Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the ScoutNScore mobile application (“App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the App. It is intended to help you and Google Play reviewers understand our data practices.
1. Who we are
ScoutNScore is a chess preparation tool that helps you import games, analyze positions, scout opponents, train tactics, and chat with an on-device / free-cloud coach experience.
For privacy questions, a contact method will be added to this page in a future update.
2. Information we collect
The App is designed to work primarily with data stored on your device.
2.1 Information you provide
- Chess.com and/or Lichess usernames you enter for importing your games
- Opponent or player names/IDs you search for in Opponent Scout (including FIDE, USCF, or ChessGames lookups)
- Messages you type into the AI Coach
- App settings you choose (theme, import preferences, and similar options)
2.2 Information created on your device
- Imported chess games (including PGN content) and analysis results
- Coach chat history and chat titles
- Local preferences (for example, welcome-screen state or recent lookups)
This information is stored locally using on-device storage technologies such as IndexedDB and local storage. It is not uploaded to a ScoutNScore account server because the App does not operate user accounts.
2.3 Information we do not intentionally collect
- We do not require you to create an account or provide your real name, email, or phone number to use the App
- We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data
- We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not sell personal information
- We do not integrate Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or similar analytics/crash products in the current App build
3. How we use information
We use on-device and feature-related information only to provide App functionality, including to:
- Import and display your chess games
- Run Stockfish analysis on your device
- Build opponent dossiers and training recommendations
- Power the AI Coach and keep your chat history on the device
- Remember your settings and improve the in-app experience
4. Network requests and third parties
When you use certain features, the App contacts third-party services over the internet. Those services process the data needed to fulfill your request under their own terms and privacy policies. ScoutNScore does not control third-party practices.
- Lichess — public profile/game import and player search when you use Lichess features
- Chess.com — public profile/game import when you use Chess.com features
- FIDE Ratings — public player search for Opponent Scout
- US Chess (USCF) ratings API — public member search/ratings for Opponent Scout
- ChessGames.com — public player/game lookups for Opponent Scout
- Free AI text providers (for example Pollinations and related free proxy endpoints) — coach prompts and related conversation context you submit, so a reply can be generated
- CORS helper proxies (for example corsproxy.io or allorigins) — may be used as a technical relay when a chess website blocks direct browser requests
Data sent to these services is limited to what the feature needs (such as a username, search query, game ID, or coach prompt). Do not enter sensitive personal information into the Coach or search fields.
5. Permissions
The Android App requests the Internet permission to fetch games, ratings, and coach responses. It does not require access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location.
6. Data sharing, sale, and advertising
- We do not sell your personal information
- We do not share data with data brokers
- We do not show third-party ads in the App
- We share data with third parties only as needed to operate features you request (Section 4)
7. Data retention and deletion
Because data is stored on your device, retention is controlled by you. You can delete App data by clearing the App’s storage in Android settings, uninstalling the App, or using in-App controls where available (for example deleting coach chats). Uninstalling the App removes locally stored App data from that device.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps appropriate for an on-device app, including limiting collection and relying on platform storage. No method of electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% secure.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is a general-audience chess training tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will help you remove local data where feasible.
10. International users
Third-party services you access through the App may process data in other countries. By using those features, you understand that your requests may be handled outside your home country according to the third party’s policies.
11. Your choices and rights
- You can use many App features without entering account usernames
- You can avoid Coach or Scout features if you do not want related network requests
- You can delete local data via Android App info → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of personal information. Because ScoutNScore does not operate a cloud account for your App data, most requests are handled by managing data on your device.
12. Google Play Data safety disclosures
For Google Play Console, our intended Data safety answers are:
- Data is collected/processed mainly on-device; optional feature data is sent to third-party services you invoke
- No account creation by ScoutNScore
- No sale of data; no ad personalization by ScoutNScore
- Data is used for App functionality
- Users can delete data by clearing App storage / uninstalling
Always review and align your Play Console Data safety form with this policy before each release.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
ScoutNScore is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
Chess analysis, opponent dossiers, training tips, ratings information, and AI Coach responses may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. They are for educational and entertainment purposes only and are not professional coaching, legal, or tournament advice. Always verify important information with official sources (for example US Chess, FIDE, tournament directors, or your own judgment over the board).
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of ScoutNScore shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or any loss of data, ratings, tournament results, profits, or other losses, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the App, third-party services linked from the App, or reliance on any content or recommendations shown in the App — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Your use of the App is at your sole risk. If you are dissatisfied with the App or these terms, your sole remedy is to stop using the App and uninstall it.
15. Contact
A contact method for privacy questions will be posted here later. Until then, you can manage App data on your device as described in Section 7.
